Description: Here is a copy of The Fannie Farmer Cookbook. Published in 1965, This is an 11th edition, was the first time this longtime popular cookbook was titled The Fannie farmer Cookbook. The original, first edition was called "The Boston Cooking-School Cook Book" and published in 1896. The author was Fannie Merritt Farmer an influential New England cooking teacher in her time who was often called the "mother of level measurements" for her insistence on the use of measuring cups and spoons in cooking and in recipes. This 11th edition, with its 1,839 carefully chosen recipes and superbly informative text, was edited/revised by Wilma Lord Perkins, Farmer's sister Cora Perkins daughter-in-law. This 9 ½ by 6 ½ inch hardcover edition contains many of Miss Farmer’s original recipes as well as some new additions representing the times. Editors of the future versions of the book always tried to retain the crisp and clear language characteristic of the original cookbook while introducing improvements such as newer space saving forms of recipe presentation. This 624-page book is in very good condition. The inside pages are slightly yellowed but other than that are in remarkably good condition with no stains, tears, writing or folds. This incredibly comprehensive cookbook includes black and white drawings by Alison Mason Kingsbury. The exterior of the book is also in fine condition. The exterior is a deep red cloth with embossed gold text. It is missing its dust cover. Very little wear on the covers just a little on the edges and spine. An exciting find.
