Description: A rare and interesting volume, published by The Shrine of Wisdom, concerning the writings of the legendary Hellinistic figure Hermes Trismegistus, upon which the centuries-old philosophical system of Hermeticism is based. 'The Divine Pymander of Hermes Trismegistus : An Endeavour to Systemise And Elucidate The Corpus Hermeticum ' published by The Shrine of Wisdom near Godalming, Surry in 1955 (first published in 1923), 8vo clothbound (8.5in x 5.5in), 54 pages. Original light blue cloth, titled and decorated in gilt to the front board and lettered in gilt to the spine. In very good condition, tightly bound, light general edge wear, pushed spine ends. Internally in very good condition, no ownership inscriptions, very solid hinges, pages are clean and tidy, a lovely copy. ** An uncommon book and very rare to find in this excellent state. I can find no other copies of this edition, or the earlier printings, currently listed worldwide on either Ebay or ABEBooks. You will find a multitude of modern reprint versions on both ** The treatises ascribed to the legendary Egyptian hierophant Hermes Trismegistus have exercised a profound influence on seekers from late antiquity to the present day. The many profound truths which the Hermetic writings contain are not easily recognizable from a general reading of them in the form in which they are usually presented.
