The real question is not why we hunt deer, but rather why we enjoy it. The tree most common reasons , I suppose, are the meat reason, the trophy reason and the companionship reason. It was over a century ago that James Fenimore Cooper lamented on the impact of civilization on the wilderness and was deeply concerned over the tragic clash between wilderness and civilization. The genuine deer hunter is among the men best equipped to see this, for he has one foot in the woods and the other in town and understands the value of both places, more than most men. If you're like me, you're probably be reading these stories in front of a fire, when the day's work or week's work is finished and the drink's have been poured and you're ready to let your mind slip away for a while to other days, other hunts. Your companions in THE DEER BOOK, in the pages ahead, will be men you will like, that I promise, enjoy. ********************************** During the next few weeks, in plenty of time for Christmas, I will be offering a number of additional AMWELL PRESS, leather, signed, slipcased, LIMITED EDITIONS, each sold seperately.
