Titled kastellet and dated 1889 on the verso. Fine 19th century depiction of Kastellet. ( Citadel) Danish military headquarters located in central Copenhagen. The Kastellet was built in 1626 and looks today like it did 500 years ago. It is still an active military area that belongs to the Danish Ministry of Defense, Its Defense Intelligence Service and the Home Guard. Foreigners visiting Copenhagen finds this place very amusing due to the lack of security. The area is open for the public and is a known jogging path. Its only defense is some grazing sheep and a few young guards. The oil is framed in its authentic 19th century frame. Condition: Ready to hang. In good condition. The oil could use a light cleaning and has some scratches, due to the old age. Otherwise fine with no holes, tears or missing paint. The original salon frame has minor scratches due to the age.
