Jean Leon Gerome Ferris (1863 - 1930) was an American painter best known for his series of 78 scenes from American history, entitled The Pageant of a Nation, the largest series of American historical paintings by a single artist. The images on these ornaments are:The Christmas Coach 1795 View of High (Market) Street at Second, Philadelphia, on Christmas Eve, with woman getting off a two-horse coach in front of the old courthouse.Home For Christmas 1784 A family dismounting from a one-horse gig at a county farmhouse, children greeted by an older couple. In the early 20th C. Corning adapted their lightbulb blowing machinery to make Christmas balls. Many were marketed under the label of Shiny Brite.
