Description: Offered is the vintage "The Chief American Poets", edited by Curtis Hidden Page and published in Boston by the Houghton Mifflin Co. The book, with selections from nine different writers (see main photo for list) is apparently the second edition of the book, with the latest copyright date of 1933. There is one illustration, the frontispiece containing pictures of each poet, with his facsimile signature. The book is approx. 8 1/4" x 5 3/4" and contains 713 pages, including the index. It is in good condition. The hard green cover has light to moderate wear. The gold words on the spine are still partially shiny but the words on the front have faded, although still dimly visible. There is no cracking inside either the front or back cover. The white endpapers have browned and there is a bookplate from a previous owner inside the front cover, along with the date 1940. I see no missing or torn pages and all are well-attached to the binding. They have yellowed but are otherwise mostly clean. There are some spots on the page edges, seen when the book is closed. I see no writing in the book. I have a lot of experience with vintage and antique books but am not an expert so please let me know if my description is missing information and you have additional questions. I will do my best to answer them! Please take a moment to look at some of the other items in my eBay store!
