Description: This Volume IV (4) book covers the years 1927 to 1940, it is signed in blue ink by the author, Robert C. Jones and is covered in a clear plastic book jacket that has protected it fairly well. (I didn't take the cover off for photos because it's old and I was concerned I'd tear it or be unable to put it back on, so you may see a little glare, sorry.) One of the photos is of the inside back cover of the book so you can see how the plastic folds around the cover, not sure if it came with the book or someone slipped it on later, so I wanted to leave it on for you. The book was copyrighted 1981, published in 1982, so it's around 42 years old already. I found a set of these volumes at an estate sale and am listing them each separately with similar but personalized info for each one. If you need another volume to complete your set, please see my other items for sale. The covers and first few pages have some yellowing spots from age, but the inside is in good condition. There is a stuck on label inside that says 'In Memory of' someone in 1992, but it was added years after the book was published, and was done so carefully that I thought it was printed and at first thought it was a mistake in printing! There is 192 pages of railroad train info, full of black & white photos of trains, workers, various railroading ephemera, and there is so much interesting information about the history of, and personalized stories about, the Central Vermont Railway. Please note: This comes from a non-smoking (with no current pets) climate controlled home (I have allergies) and the book has been with me for a few months. It isn't making me react, but when held up very close to my face I detect a mild musty odor that seems to be most noticeable at the outside edge of the pages. I'm not sneezing, so I don't think it's particularly bad, but this is just a warning in case you are even more allergic and bothered by scents than I am! I have enjoyed looking at the photos and reading the stories in these books, I hope you do, too.
