An Excellent Gift for The Beatles fan or Record Collector in your life! No. 0061293 - yes Low Numbered White Albums are highly collectible for the number printed on the cover - anything under 100k UK mono is highly sought after- But this is only representative of the print copy of the cover. The mother stampers engraved in the lacquer tell a story too! Read On! This is a very special copy of The Beatles White Album. It is very difficult to find a fully complete original 1968 First Press UK Mono Top Loader in this condition. A full description of the condition of each original component is described below all with an explanation of the early mother stampers. But first, what is special about the mono version besides being much rarer than stereo versions? For a start, only mono versions were available in the UK. All US pressings were in stereo! There are very distinct differences in the music and the sound quality of the mono version version. One example is Eric Clapton's guitar solo on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". It is much more modulated and goes on longer before the final fade out. the scare -1 lacquer stampers have a warmth and naturalness not present in other pressings. Hand clapping, the voices in dialog or intro's are realistic almost "as if you are in the room" during the recordings. This is subjective obviously but is highly collectible for this reason and therefore a consensus amongst collectors. The US poster is different too and nearly blacks out Yoko in bed to a blob as well as other "finer" details which are clear in the UK poster. About the mother stampers" Each Mother Stamper used G , R, A, M, O, P, H, L, T, D- thousands of copies were made from each stamper. Each stamper is engraved on the disc and range from one to four "letters".G=1R=2A=3M=4O=5P=6H=7L=8T=9D=0 What does this mean? The lower the mother stamper combination the earlier the pressing of the record which translates into significantly - I mean - SIGNIFICANTLY better sound quality! A three or four digit mother stamper results in a much lower sound quality regardless of the printed number on the cover. These very early mono White Album first pressings are vastly different from later first pressings. This record includes the following matrixes and mother stampers: SIDE ONE: XEX-709-1 HL (Number 78 from the H Mother). SIDE TWO: XEX-710-1 HH (Number 77 from the H Mother) SIDE THREE: XEX-711-1 PP (Number 66 from the P Mother) SIDE FOUR: XEX-712-1 PA (Number 63 from the P Mother) Condition of components: Labels: SIDE ONE - MINTSIDE TWO -EX - Slight Foxing and Discoloration around the Spindle (White label)SIDE THREE- MINTSIDE FOUR - EX- Slight Foxing and Discoloration around the Spindle (White label) DISCS: NM-/EX - All Discs have some very light surface marks (not scratches) upon examination under halogen light appears to be due to inner sleeve storage but all retain their deep glossy shine. All discs have received very little play with no trace of groove/playwear or distortion. COVER: EX+ - The cover is in fantastic condition with no seam splits at the top, inner divide or on the side label which reads clearly "The Beatles" and the LP Numbers for both Stereo and Mono as it should. There is a yellowish tint to the album from age but unless one was sealed in a vault for 56 years, this is normal. Some very faint ring wear from storage exists around the center disc-shaped as would also be normal from storage. "The Beatles" printed on the cover has some grayish dis-coloration between the letters, I assume from some collected storage dust. This appears light and could easily be removed with the proper cleaning solution and a Q-tip. The cover is thoroughly intact. Photos: John & George are in mint condition. There is a small crease on the upper right hand corner of Ringo - NM-/EX. Paul is the only portrait that has a condition issue - VG-. There is the same crease as Ringo, though larger on the upper right hand corner and also a large fold crease line on the lower left bottom as depicted in the photos but from a distance, all four are perfectly framable. I have taken close up pictures of all the portraits for this reason. The original stamper is on all four in the bottom left frame to authenticate the portraits as original. I have bought many White Albums that have been sold as "Complete" only to find the portraits to be reproductions. These are all original. POSTER: VG - The Poster was always folded during production so the folding creases are present and due to the lyrics being on the back of the poster, it is extremely rare to see a poster in mint condition. People read the lyrics and the poster was handled as a result. For this reason, I grade the poster EX. There is no graffiti, tape marks or pin holes in the poster and presents in unhung condition. Inner-Sleeves: INTACT! WOW! This is only the second White Album I have ever had with the original black sleeves included let alone intact! Heavy foxing but no tears! The Discs are housed in vintage "Made in Great Britain" generic sleeves but the originals are included. Please review all pictures carefully as they are representative of the the condition described above. Returns accepted with original packaging and in same condition as sent. I do take video of items over a certain dollar amount at the shipping center before sealing to protect everyone!
