Description: Up for sale is a copy of "THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF MISS JANE PITTMAN" by Ernest J. Gaines. Published by The Dial Press, New York. 1971, Stated First Printing. This is a novel in the guise of the tape-recorded recollections of a black woman who has lived 110 years, who has been both a slave and a witness to the black militancy of the 1960's. The book is generally in Very Good- Condition. The jacket has some scratches and browning. There are scuff marks, as well as nicks and tears around the edges. It is not price clipped. A few stains on the back and it is torn at the top edge near the spine. There is also tape on the bottom edge near the spine holding together a tear in the spine. The brown boards have very light wear. Some light scuffing along the edges. Internally, it is firmly bound and there is very little wear to the pages. There are no visible marks on the pages, except for some pen writing on the front end page by a previous owner. Other small dings here and there. Not perfect, but generally a very nice copy!
