Description: This antique classic is an early translation by Tobias Smollett. There are only three of the four volumes present, a defect that has to be mentioned up front. None the less this is an enchanting set: each book is covered in marbled paper with a leather spine and corners. The original engravings are in very good condition as well as the rest of the volumes. The bindings are sound and the pages are clean. There are original engravings in the front of each volume. The spine of one volume has a split and some missing leather, but is still holding tight. Each volume is 4 ¼” by 3”, which was a common size for the time.
