The 1-hour, 50 minute presentation shows highlights of every game except 1940, 1943 and 1944. Early clips are from rare newsreels until 1955, when Major League Baseball made its first All-Star Game film covering the classic at County Stadium, Milwaukee. All film through 1955 is B & W, but the 1956 and 1957 films are in beautiful COLOR! 1955 and 1957 also have bonus footage of an “All-Star Preview”! The new DVD also has a special menu, so you can select any one of eight different films which make up the entire program! Philadelphia pitchers Bobby Shantz (having his finest season) and Curt Simmons of the host Phillies steal the show. In the top of the frame, the A.L. expands its 3-2 lead to 6-2, but the Nationals come roaring back to come within a run in the last half.
