Red cloth canvas can best be described as a cross between traditional cloth hardcover binding and the flexible softcover binding of leather. Many of the vintage Ellen G. White and other Seventh-day Adventist Christian books were bound with red cloth canvas. Enthusiasts of the SDA literature genre find these books to be wonderful collectible complements to their personal libraries. Presented in this listing is one such unique classic. While the copyright date is unstated in this volume, this seller takes the liberty of adopting an educated stance by utilizing the phrases ca. 1940s because the majority of EGW and/or other SDA books that were given this binding by the SDA publishing houses occurred during the World War II years when supplies and materials were low and the challenged economy did not sustain the more expensive binding materials and processes. Additionally, the Third Edition in four hardbound volumes were published in 1942. Understandably, this bookseller's research results in the assessment via bibliographical interpolation that this red cloth canvas-bound 4-volume set was also published in 1942. A small faction of SDA literature enthusiasts deem and thus invest in the purchase of RCC-bound literature to be a collectible specialty due to its increasingly hard-to-find status among Seventh-day Adventist libraries and other book sources/collectives.
