Original Narrative: BERN FROM ENGHI: The situation of Berne is peculiarly beautiful, standing near 1650 feet above the level of the sea, and on a commanding elevation above the surrounding country ; the river Aar flowing rapidly round two sides of it, on one of which it has a considerable fall ; while the environs furnish promenades of the most delightful character : from that of Enghe, every part of the city, with the cathedral and churches, is seen to advantage, with the river winding in front, and then running off to the left, through a beautiful valley.
