Author Biography After training as a chemical technician, Michael Has studied physics at the University of Regensburg and marketing at INSEAD in Fontainebleau. He obtained his doctorate in 1991 at the University of Regensburg in the field of biophysics with a thesis on pressure and temperature effects on hydrophobic interaction. Has was a member of the board of the Society for Threatened Peoples for many years and led the scientific work of the World Uranium Hearing. His work on alternative tourism led to the book "The New Tourism", which was published in 1991. At the FOGRA Institute in Munich, Dr. Has headed the Innovation Research and Prepress departments. He founded and led the working group that later became the International Color Consortium (ICC) and was one of the founding members of the ICC. For the ICC he served for several years as its technical secretary. Dr. Has served on several industry advisory boards and participated in start-up companies. After joining Canon in 1998, he held senior positions in research and development, partner management, product line management and product strategy. He was responsible for several new product/portfolio developments and successful market entries in software and hardware. Parallel to his work in industry, Dr. Has completed his habilitation at the Institut National Polytechnique of the University of Grenoble in 1998. He has been teaching at INP-Grenoble as a distinguished professor since 1998 and is also a guest lecturer at the University of Klagenfurt. His teaching topics include business strategy as well as different aspects of sustainability. Based on the analysis of the circular economy of paper, he has been focusing on sustainability of industrial operations since 2011. In this context, he deals with non-financial reporting and the assessment and collection of data (such as KPIs, footprints and risks) including footprint reduction measures and ecodesign to be included in reports. He has worked with companies and products from very different sectors such as the automotive, chemical and printing industries. His scientific work on industry development has led to numerous publications sustainability. He was honored with a Mac World Award and received the Seybold Award for Innovation. Has is managing partner at the DÜsseldorf-based consulting agency Monopteros . He advises companies and organizations on sustainability-related topics - non-financial reporting and the assessment of data (KPIs, footprints and risks) to be included in reports, including measures to reduce the sustainability-related impact of companies. In recognition of his work, he was appointed a trusted lecturer of the Hans Böckler Foundation. Has serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees f the Diversity of World Cultures Foundation (Stiftung Vielfalt) - a foundation that deals with and supports human rights activities and projects for ethnic and religious minorities.
