Description: SUPERB RARE ANTIQUE C19th JAPANESE FINE PORCELAIN LOTUS LEAF TEAPOT. DATES TO THE MEIJI PERIOD OF THE 19TH CENTURY (1868-1912) STUNNING DESIGN DEPICTING A LOTUS LEAF AS THE INSPIRATION WITH THE VEINS OF THE LEAF RUNNING UP THE BODY THAT IS RAISED WITH THE PORCELAIN BEING THICKER AND THE TOP BEING WAVY AS THE EDGE OF THE LEAF. THE FOOT SHOWS THE STEM AND ROOT OF THE LOTUS LEAF WRAPPED AROUND THE EDGE AS SHOWN IN THE PHOTOS. THE PAINTING HAS BEEN IMPLEMENTED REALLY WELL WITH LOTUS LEAVES, FLOWERS WITH FOLIAGE, INSECTS AND BUTTERFLIES. THERE HAS BEEN GOLD PAINTED IN FINE DOTS TO CRATE CLOUDS OR MIST TO ENHANCE THE PAINTED FEATURES TO MAKE THEM STAND OUT MORE. THE TEAPOT IS IN GOOD CONDITION WITH NO DAMAGE OR REPAIR AND THE PAINTWORK IS VERY GOOD. THERE HAS BEEN SOME RUBBING TO THE GOLD ON THE LID FROM USE BUT NOT TOO MUCH AND IT LOOKS AS THOUGH IT WAS PROBABLY USED FOR MORE DISPLAY AND ALSO ON THE HANDLE BUT OTHER GOLD LOOKS GOOD. IT MEASURES 11 CM'S HIGH AND THE OVERALL LENGTH IS 14 CM'S. A VERY UNUSUAL AND RARE PIECE THAT WOULD LOOK OUTSTANDING ON DISPLAY !
