Description: Paul Emile Miguel was not a prolific maker. So, his bows are not often available for sale. This particular bow is quite early too (1875) and is his own personal work, with the frog set in a traditional Vuillaume style with a recessed track. You may not have heard of Paul Emile Miguel. But you have heard of E. A. Sartory. ... Miguel taught Sartory how to make bows. Charles Peccatte also taught Sartory how to make bows, so too did Vigneron pere. The stick is of mid-brown pernambuco with a very attractive flame, mounts are nickel-silver and ebony. The stamp reads “Collin Mezin A Paris.” Bow made for famous French firms had to be of the highest quality. There are no significant condition issues few signs of use. The bow is deemed to be in very good condition and was made in 1875 for the above-named firm by Emile Miguel. The son of violin maker, bow maker and organ manufacturer Nicolas Miquel, Emile learnt the trade in the family workshop, before establishing his business in the 1870s. His bows are typical examples of the work in Mirecourt in the last quarter of the 19th century, and often valued for their play ability and sound. After 1891, he moved to Nancy where he worked for several violin makers. This is a tremendous bow for its price tag, and it would stand comparison with many Remy Maire and Peccatte school bows. It has some of that same quality – richness of tone, power without stiffness, and above all adaptability.Excellent weight and balance, good attack, a smooth legato… this bow measurements are 59.0g—-9 7/8—727mm This bow will work in all eras of repertoire. The bow is appraised by Paul Childs at US$7500. You will be hard pressed to find another Paul Emile Miguel violin bow at this price point with this level of play ability. His bows sell for thirteen to sixteen thousand dollars. I have shown a price list for Miguel bows in the last slide from Pierre Guillaume for 2022 as proof. Professional level execution. You have a 2-week trial period to test the bow yourself. If you think otherwise, return it! I will refund your purchase price minus the transportation charge. It must be returned by courier. This bow is meant for a student at Julliard, or other famous music school, or a professional orchestra player.
