Just a few mouse clicks will provide you with abundant information. I have researched these species exhaustively and found no evidence of toxicity from their ingestion or use. Super Seven is a blend of seven powerful polypore medicinal mushrooms: Chaga (Inonotus obliquus), Red Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum), Turkey Tail (Trametes versicolor), Artist's Conk (Ganoderma applanatum), Tinder (Hoof) Conk (Fomes fomentarius), Birch Polypore (Polyporus betulinis, aka. Piptoporus betulinis) and Cracked Cap Polypore (Phellinus rimosus, aka. P robineae). All ingredients are wild harvested and all-natural. Chaga* (Inonotus obliquus) aka. Birch Clinker is known as the king of the medicinal mushrooms. It is a cold-loving fungus found primarily in northern forests, predominantly on species of birch. It has been used primarily in Russia and other Baltic countries for the past three hundred years. It is recognized for a wide variety of health benefits. It has a wide variety of active components, including Triterpenes (lanostanoid-type and others); Melanin complex; Heteropolysaccharides including beta glucans; Protein-bound polysaccharide (xylogalactoglucose); Inositols (B vitamins); Inotodiol; Ergosterols (Provitamin D) and other sterols; Betulin and Betulinic acid (concentrated from the birch bark). (Mushrooms for Health, by Greg A. Marley) Turkey Tail (Trametes versicolor) aka. Coriolus veriscolor is one of the more common small leathery polypore mushrooms. It is distributed widely around the world. It is the best-researched and clinically tested of the medicinal mushrooms. It is best known for the presence of two distinct polysaccharide-protein isolates which are specific to this species: PSK (Polysaccharide-Kureha) and PSP (Polysaccharide P). It also contains Beta glucans and Ergosterol derivatives (a form of Vitamin D2). It has been recognized for its incredible health promoting benefits for centuries, especially in the Far Eastern countries of Japan and China. (Mushrooms for Health, by Greg A. Marley) Western medicine is just now beginning to recognize it's value as a medicinal alternative in many areas. Reishi (Ganoderm lucidum) aka. Ling Zhi is probably the best known medicinal mushroom. It has been an indispensable part of folk medicine in China and Japan for more than two thousand years, perhaps as long as seven thousand years in China. It has been used in the treatment of a variety of medical conditions. Active components include Polysaccharides (more than one hundred types identified), such as Beta-D glucans, Gamma-D mannans, Heteropolysaccharides, Glycoproteins or Proteoglycans; Terpenes (well in excess of 200 terpenes isolated), including Ling Zhi-8 protein, Ganodermic acids, Triterpenes, and Ergosterols. (Mushrooms for Health, by Greg A. Marley) Artist's Conk (Ganoderma applanatum) is a widely distributed shelf type polypore mushroom which is closely related to its cousins, Ganoderma lucidum and Ganoderma tsugae. Although it is less well known as a medicinal mushroom, it shares many of the health-promoting components with the Reishi varieties. Active components include: Beta glucans; Hetero-beta glucans; Triterpenes (more than a hundred different terpenes, such as Ganoderic acid and Applanoxide acid); Ergosterol peroxide and other sterols; and Ganodermadiol, among several others. (Mushrooms for Health, by Greg A. Marley) Tinder Conk (Fomes fomentarius) aka. Hoof Conk is probably best known in the West for being found with the Ice Man, Otzi, the Copper Age European man buried in an Alpine glacier for 5 thousand years. It was presumed that the conk was used for fire starting purposes. Some argue that the fungus was used as a poultice for his wounds. Tinder conk is distributed widely across northern hardwood forests. Active components include: Active Polysaccharides; Anti-complementary polysaccharides: MFKF-AP1, MFKF-AP1 beta, MFKF-AP2, MFKF-AP2 beta, and MFKF-NP; PSK; Ergosterol Peroxides; Glucans; Betulinic acid; Matrix metalloproteinase inhibitor compounds; Triterpenes; Piptamine; and Melanin Glucan Complex. (Mushrooms for Health, by Greg A. Marley; The Fungal Pharmacy, by Robert Rogers) Birch Polypore, aka. Birch Conk- (Fomitopsis betulina), (previously classified as Piptoporus betulinus)...is the most common fungus found on northern birch trees. Historically, it has been shredded and used for tinder for starting fires. The dried conks were also used as an abrasive material for putting a fine finish on razors, for which it was called the razor strop fungus. Although edible when young, it becomes too tough and leathery as it matures. There is no known toxicity. It can be brewed as a tea or made into a tincture. Otzi, the 5300-year-old “Ice Man” was found with this fungus, as well as the Tinder Conk (Fomes fomentarius). It is believed that it was possibly used to treat intestinal parasites or or other stomach ailments, and possibly for its antimicrobial properties. (Gregg A. Marley, Mushrooms for Health). It has been used for these purposes in Europe for millennia and continues to be used in some areas to this day in Italy and Poland (Robert Rogers, The Fungal Pharmacy) Active compounds include: heteroglucans, betulin and betulinic acid (from the birch host), triterpenes, piptamine, ergosterols, polyporenic acid A and C, 1,3,-beta-D-glucopyranan, B ergosta-7, 22-dien-3-ol, fungisterol, agaric acid, dehydrotumulosic acid, ungalinic acid, tumulosic acid, 4-methylmorpholine-N-oxide, and various lanostinoids. (Robert Rogers, The Fungal Pharmacy). Cracked Cap Polypore (Phellinus rimosus) aka. P. robineae is commonly found exclusively on black locust trees. It is less well-known than the other mushrooms listed, but has been shown to have many health promoting effects which, unfortunately, cannot be mentioned in this description. I refer you to the PubMed website for more information. In folk medicine, it has been made into a tea for treating a number of ailments. It is known to be high in polyphenols and flavonoids. There is no known toxicity to this mushroom. (PubMed articles) This is a wild harvested non-GMO, double extracted natural product. Double Extraction assures maximum recovery of both water and alcohol soluble components to assure optimum health promoting compounds. The final tincture contains a minimum of 25% alcohol to assure potency for several years. *My Raw, Wild-Harvested Chaga is hand-processed and hand-selected for consistent high quality. I also ensure that there is a healthy balance of the internal golden core matrix and external black melanin-rich crust, because both are needed to provide all of the great health benefits. Wild harvested Reishi, Artist's Conk, Tinder Conk, Birch Polypore, Cracked Cap Polypore, and Turkey Tail mushrooms are finely chopped and combined with the Chaga. All mushroom ingredients are hand selected for freshness and overall quality. I personally harvest all of my mushroom ingredients. The resulting mixture is first extracted with grain alcohol, followed by a slow cooker water extraction process over several hours, not to exceed 180 degrees F, as high temperatures may damage some of the health promoting components. The alcohol and water extracts are then combined to form a tincture. The tincture is immediately placed into amber glass Boston dropper bottles and safety sealed for your protection. **Shake well before each use.
