Description: 35/2 Asph Kanto Matte Black Paint 8 Element 11617 Brass Up for auction is an extremely rare Summicron Aspherical 35/2 chrome brass Leica M lens that was meticulously refurnished and painted in matte black paint by Kanto camera in Japan. Summicron 11617 Kanto camera also painted an originsl summicron 8 element hood in matte black. Summicron 11617 was a special edition of summicron aspherical lens that was released for the Japanese market. 700 total lenses were made in an homage to the original version one 8 element summicron. Even the tab is chrome brass in the 11617, as was in the original. Kanto camera did an amazing job on this example. I’ve used it gently over the years, but find I prefer the 50mm point of view. Dampening is perfect on this lens. Brass lenses always feel so much more solid than the aluminum alloy in modern summicron 35 edition. Focus is spot on on my Kanto leica M2 film camera. Glass and coatings are clean as it has always used a UV leica filter. Comes with caps, hood, hood cap, Kanto service paperwork, and leica lens case. Don’t hesitate to ask questions. Good luck.
