Description: 800x600 Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Up for sale is this Suffolk, Virginia, Charter #9733, $5.00 1902 Plain Back, Fr. #601, with treasury signatures of William T. Vernon as Register of the Treasury and Lee McClung as Treasurer of The United States. This note exhibits weak stamped bank signatures of A. Woolford as cashier of the bank, and John L. McLemore as Bank President. “National Bank of Suffolk, Virginia” was organized in April of 1910. The bank issued a total of $5,776,900.00 in National Currency from April 1910 until July of 1935 when National Banknote Currency printing ended. The total issue of Large Size notes issued was 534,628 banknotes. There were two National Banks that issued large size National Currency in Suffolk, Virginia. This is the only bank currently available to collectors, as the other bank is currently Unreported! The note has four even margins on both sides of the note. The top margin is darker than the rest of the note. There are years of dirt on both sides from circulation. I so see 2 - 1/16 of an inch or less small splits in the top margin near the centerfold. I also see 3 pinholes in the note, I have marked them in orange. I grade this note as a Fine, but you look at the scans and judge the grade for yourself before bidding. The Kelly Census shows 20 large size notes reported on this bank title. There are 0 - $5.00 1902 Date Backs, 0 - $10.00 1902 Date Backs, 1 - $20.00 1902 Date Back, 9 - $5.00 1902 Plain Backs, 8 - $10.00 1902 Plain Backs and 2 - $20.00 1902 Plain Backs reported. This note is new to the census, the new owner can report this note, if they so choose. This note would make a fine addition to any Virginia National Banknote collection! This bank is an Independent City, so it should appeal to people collecting National Banknotes from that and the surrounding counties. Don’t let this note get away! I will include free standard shipping in the United States with tracking and insurance.
