SUDETENLAND COVER FROM ZWITTAU 1938 SUDETENDEUTSCHE PARTEI SPECIAL CACHET After Germans' take over the Austria in 1938, A.H. started a wide propaganda campaign against the Czechoslovak Government involving Sudeten Germans. Meantime in Sudetenland, A.H. has instructed Henlein to form his Freikorps and provided uniforms and arms. On September 21-22, 1938 the Freikorps took control of the areas of Asch, Eger, Franzensbad and Rumburg in Northern Bohemia and Jauernig in the North of Czech Silesia. On October 1, 1938 Germans crossed the border began occupation of Sudeten territories. The registered cover from Sudeten German Party (Sudetendeutsche Partei) branch located in Zwittau (Svitavy) to Leipzig (Germany) franked with German and Czechoslovakian stamps and cancelled with the bilingual Czech /German Zwittau post office cancel on October 17, 1938 with the Czech name expunged from the upper arc. The cover stamped with blue "Zwittau befreit 1938” (Zwittau liberated 1938) cachet. The cover arrived to Leipzig on October 20, 1938. Genuine. Rare. The auction is for the item above only.
