Description: CrystalPur Stylus CleanerMade in and shipped from USA The economical CrystalPur stylus cleaner is a non-toxic silicone derived compound that gently removes dirt particles from the stylus tip safely by mechanical means, not chemical. This ingenious drop-in stylus cleaner simplifies the delicate task of cleaning your stylus.Simply lower the stylus point ("needle") momentarily onto the pliable compound which has the firmness of modeling clay. The debris will cling to the CrystalPur, leaving the stylus clean and best prepared to reproduce all the sound your LPs were engineered to deliver. CrystalPur is anti-static and much gentler than stylus cleaning fluids or the softest stylus brush. WIN/WIN: The regular practice of using CrystalPur preserves your cartridge life and protects your LPs from the inevitable sound degradation that results from the micro-abuse and damage of a stylus compromised by dust and grit. The compound is contained in an attractive 1 1/8" round acrylic pot with screw-top lid easily and conveniently left on the deck of your turntable. Remove label so that the plain, glossy black top will not distract from the aesthetics of your equipment. CrystalPur is a nontoxic, odorless substance and does not irritate the skin. It is not poisonous to people or pets. Keeping the compound covered between listening sessions will deter its surface from slight oxidation if left exposed for a long period of time. With minor care the CrystalPur compound will retain its unique tackiness indefinitely. NOTE: Follow the cleaning recommendations of the manufacturer of your stylus/cartridge. Note to Buyers Our shared interest is in cleaning the stylus without damaging it. Gently lower the stylus into the pot using the tonearm lift (preferred) or manually if there is no tonearm lift. When the tonearm is properly balanced the weight at the stylus will allow it to fall into the CrystalPur compound gently. The natural resistance of the surface of the compound will limit the fall of the stylus. In this position the stylus and bottom surface of the cantilever will, as intended, contact the compound. Its formulation will attract the undesirable deposits while when lifted, release completely and readily from stylus and cantilever. No other cleaning action is required after lifting the stylus from the pot. Were these components to rest heavily in the compound for a "long" time there is some risk that the compound may enfold the stylus/cantilever assembly. Lifting the tonearm in this instance may risk stressing the suspension/pivot of the cartridge and misalign its electronic components. What is a "long" time? Finally, you must use your own judgement in this. The compound is a simple formulation which acts mechanically, not chemically, to condition the stylus. It contains no cleansers or detergents. A greater dwell time will not improve its performance. As a suggestion, if the tonearm is well-balanced, leave the stylus in the pot for no more than 15 seconds to be safe. From experience we estimate that 5 seconds dwell time will be sufficient. After all, the CrystalPur is intended to simplify and improve stylus cleaning, not complicate it. Remember that the stylus cleaning is in service to proper LP care which is always the prime concern of the collector. Logically, the media is the most valuable element of any sound reproducing system regardless of the price or quality of ones downstream components. The later can be upgraded; the LPs however, can only be preserved and their degradation postponed. The encouraging aspect of all this is that the audiophile's highest cost is not monetary - it is rather in the time and care he or she devotes to maintaining the collection. Used before each play the CrystalPur assures that the audiophile is optimizing the critical meeting of the stylus and the LP. CrystalPur lasts a lifetime. It does not dry out but should be kept covered so as prevent ambient dust from settling on its surface. It's ability to attract stylus deposits is not compromised by age. If the CrystalPur should get dusty or if the amount of debris removed from the needle has accumulated so that the surface of the CrystalPur is excessively marked with deposits, one may remove the CrystalPur compound from the pot, knead it, and return it to the pot. Of course, the compound should be removing little to no visible material from LPs. Naturally, the less material deposited in the compound the better. None visible to the unaided eye would be the ideal......but not entirely realistic. Large or regular deposits may be indications of problems with the mechanical aspect of the reproduction system such as: a dirty LP, an excessively worn stylus, an improperly balanced stylus (weight and/or tracking), an environment allowing platter vibration, an uncentered turntable spindle, unlevel platter, or other geometry issues. One small advantage of the CrystalPur is that one may more easily observe the amount of debris being lifted from the stylus. Regard these deposits as an "early warning system" for some of the adjustment concerns above.
