Description: Stunning Vintage 1950s Dress, Extra-Small Size, Cotton, Excellent Condition, Incl Attached Sash. This beautiful dress was worn from the late 1950s into the early 1960s. It features a scoop V-neckline, a princess fitted bodice, and capped sleeves, and has self-piping around the neckline. The full skirt is pleated at the waist with tiny 3/8" soft pleats. Please see the photo. There is a metal zipper in the center back and hook with thread loop closure at the back neckline. The decorative shirred belt with its 2 long sashes is loosely attached to the dress at the side seams and tacked to the dress under the appointment. The belt closes at the dress back with three hook and thread loop closures. The colors of this dress are vivid with no fading. The fabric is dusty brown with shades of a darker brown, yellow, and orange depicting an impressionistic modern floral design. The belt/sash is bright yellow. There are no tags, no size, and no brand-name. The dress and belt/sash are both permanent press cotton. I have measured and re-measured as carefully as I can, and find these measurements: bust 35 1/2", waist 23 1/2", shoulder to waist 15", waist to hem 24", bottom circumference 104", sleeve opening 10 3/4". The shoulder to hem length is 39". Because of the princess style bodice, the actual measurements of the garment were taken. These numbers are the actual measurement of the dress. This dress will fit a tiny lady. There is no stretch to the fabric. Please contact me with any questions. The dress is from a family estate. The woman who wore it was about 4'11" tall and about 100 pounds. The model in the photos is about 5'4" tall and about a size 2. In addition to the manufacturers generous hem, an additional 4" have been turned up due to the original owner's short stature. This can be easily let out if the new owner desires a longer length. As you can see in the photos, it is a beautiful length as it is on the model. This dress is near perfection. There is a tiny flyspeck on the sash, smaller than a pinhead, and is barely visible. Please see the photos. The new owner might like to replace the original thread loops, although the original loops are still holding. The dress has always been kept on a clothes hanger in a protected closet. It has been freshly laundered with fragrance-free laundry detergent and is ready to wear. We are a smoke-free home.
