Description: From flight archives of ISS-3 Expedition cosmonaut Mikhail Tyurin Pirs patch flown 128 days aboard STS-105/ISS/STS-108.Size 3.5 x 4.5" Signed on reverse side by Mikhail Tyurin.PIRS(meaning "pier") also called Stykovochniy Otsek/Docking Module (SO-1/DC-1 Docking Compartment) was a Russian module on the ISS.Pirs was launched on 14 September 2001 and was located on the Zvezda module of the station.It provided the ISS with one docking port for Soyuz and Progress spacecraft and allowed egress and ingress for spacewalks by cosmonauts using Russian Orlan space suits.Pirs was docked to Zvezda for almost 20 years until July 26, 2021.All four of the spacewalks of Tyurin,Dezhurov and Culbertson during Expedition 3 were completed using the Russian Orlan spacesuit and from the Pirs air lock on the Russian segment of the International Space Station.
