Description: The full title is "Straight from the Heart: How to Talk to your Teenagers about Love and Sex" and I personally think it's a terrific book. I went to a workshop, sponsored by Planned Parenthood of Toledo, Ohio, and presented by Dr. Cassell and it was terrific. At this point, I had been teaching for about 15 years and had been teaching sex education for many of those years. I was comfortable with that role but still felt I wasn't meeting the needs of the many kids who hadn't had "the talk" with their parents and needed guidance. This workshop changed my thinking. I came away feeling empowered to not only talk about the biology but also about love and the emotional vulnerability of being sexual. I felt I could talk to teens about self protection in new terms of being careful and protecting themselves from not only physical issues but also psychological and emotional issues. Book is inscribed and signed to me but it's time to pass it on.
