The soldiers are plastic and have been precoated with a paint bonder(the paint would flake off if not for this important application), then meticulously hand painted. EVERYTHING ELSE is metal. I even painted their hair different colors(black, blond, brown!). I have over 3000 hand painted soldiers, cannons, cavalry, fencing, camp scenes, field hospital scenes, wagons, and other scenery items. I was a Civil War reenactor and have always loved dioramas.
