Description: This is a rare November 4th, 1997 "Stage" playbill from the two-week, National Tour engagement of the STEVE MARTIN comedy "PICASSO AT THE LAPIN AGILE" at the Fisher Theatre in Detroit, Michigan. (The play premiered at Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre on October 13th, 1993. This Detroit engagement opened November 4th, 1997 and closed November 16th, 1997. The production would return to Detroit on January 13th, 1998 for one week, closing January 18th, 1998.) ..... The play centers around the characters of Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso, who meet on October 8th, 1904 at a bar called the Lapin Agile (French for "Nimble Rabbit") in the Montmarte district of Paris. Both men are on the verge of disclosing amazing works (Einstein will publish his Special Theory of Relativity in 1905 and Picasso will paint Les Demoiselles d'Avignon in 1907). At the Lapin Agile, they have a lengthy debate about the value of genius and talent, while interacting with a host of other characters .....
