Description: A vintage pendant, in sterling silver with an unusual Viking-inspired design representing a long boat, used in battle; it may have come from early coins or metal jewelry and could be worn by either sex. The design is reminiscent of early Norse mythology and style; relics discovered where early Norse people either lived or traveled, are notable for the frequency with which metal jewelry and other metal adornments are found, possibly including some with this design. It would be a great gift for any one of Norwegian heritage, or for anyone who appreciates the Norse design aesthetic of this pendant. This piece was hand cast in sterling silver by the lost wax method during the latter half of the 20th century; I bought it new, and have had it in my jewelry collection since that time. Sterling silver, with 95.2% silver, is used in fine jewelry. Pure silver is too soft to keep its shape, and is used only when adding a stone—in which case, pure silver is used in the bezel surrounding the stone, because of its malleable nature. The chain is NOT included. Thanks for looking!
