Description: These abstract figural pair of paintings were done by German American artist Stefan Hirsch (1899-1964). Hirsch was born in Nuremberg, Germany and received his art education at the University of Zurich in Switzerland, and eventually moved to New York, where he became well known as an abstract artist and teacher. The left painting is a gouache on paper, monogrammed lower right SL, as well as signed, dated, and titled on verso “Gottheit, 1917” and housed under glass in a modern chromed wooden frame. The right painting is also a gouache on paper, monogrammed upper right SL, as well as signed, dated, and titled on verso “Madona, 1917”, and housed under glass in a modernist silver leafed frame.
