Description: Up for sale is a nice Stanley 5 1/2 type 16 Hand plane. Super nice plane . The bed had very spotty Japanning on it so I completely stripped it down and re-Japanned it using Stanley's original factory recipe . The only issue with the plane is the tote has a expertly repaired cracked tote. I originally thought this was a type 15, but got informed it was really a type 16. I agree it is a 16. Not all type 16 and up had a raised rib on the toe or heal. The frog and level cap for sure make it a type 16.
