He did sign the original painting, and the “Pappy Boyington” you see in the water on lower left corner of the print image is that signature that has been reproduced, not an original signature. A very rare print from way back in 1982! It’s not easy to find a 42 year old print that essentially looks brand new. A portion of the prints in this edition were signed by Boyington. Unfortunately, this is not one of those. This print was titled, dated, numbered and signed by the artist Stan Stokes. Very nice image crafted by Stan Stokes in his early days. Personally, I’m a fan of this early period in Stokes’ career that includes other fine images such as “Boyington’s P-40”, “Yeager’s Quest”, “Flying Tigers”… Never framed, stored flat in a non-smoking, climate-controlled environment.
