Description: St VitusSingle Decade RosaryThis circular-style single decade rosary has a 1" gold-toned centerpiece with a full color picture of St Vitus with a friendly lion on the front and a textured back. The 1-3/4" San Damiano crucifix has half of the Prayer of Peace by St Francis of Assisi on the back, in English (we include a card with the full prayer plus info on the crucifix). All fifteen beads are 8 mm, smooth, round, natural, genuine semi-precious gemstones. The 2 Our Father beads are Gree Adventurine and the 13 Hail Mary beads are Leopard Jasper which is a stone with patterns and markings that resemble the beautiful coats of large felines and smaller housecats. The centerpiece was made in France; the crucifix in Italy; and the rosary itself was designed and handmade by me in the USA. About 10-1/2" long, it comes gift-boxed and with the following:How to Pray the Rosary pamphletThe 15 Promises of MaryHow to Pray the Divine MercyCarry PouchSt Vitus prayer cardSt Francis of Assisi prayer cardSan Damiano Crucifix / Prayer of Peace card St Vitus was the son of a Roman senator and became a Christian at age 12 under the influence of his tutor, St Modestus. He was known for performing miracles, and when he cured the emperor's son of demon possession, he was accused of sorcery and, along with his tutor and the tutor's wife, St Crescentia, was subjected to many tortures, including being thrown to the lions, but the lion just licked St Vitus! Eventually the courageous trio were all martyred aboud 301 AD. St Vitus is the patron saint of dogs, domestic animals, epilepsy, dancers, commedians, Syndenham's chorea (St Vitus' dance), young people, actors, boilermakers, mummers, coppersmiths, and for protections against storms, dog or snake bites, oversleeping, & lightning. He is one of the 14 Holy Helpers. Many years ago there was a black and white movie "Androcles and the Lion" which was loosely based upon St Vitus. Starring Victor Mature, Jean Simmons and Alan Young, who was "Wilbur" on the popular TV show, "Mr Ed" about a talking horse. (We're going way back!) It's mostly a comedy, based on a play by George Bernard Shaw, and I still watch love to watch it, especially during Lent when most religious movies we watch at that time are more serious. The movie character Androcles was an animal lover who was arrested as a Christian and accused of sorcery, like St Vitus. And like St Vitus, throwing him to the lions didn't result in him being eaten! Please pray the Rosary for world peace!!;
