Description: Nice 1st PB (Thus) of the classic noir mystery Dark Passage by David Goodis (Dell Books, 1946). Good copy of Dell's crime map edition with proper book no. 221. Book is square, binding tight, gray dye on page ends is still present, blue end papers still warm with just a trace of dusting. Stiff board cover shows age, slight creases in laminate and soiling to rear. Rubbing and a small closed tear at lower hinge of cover. Spine is nice and glossy, unfaded, 240 pp. Now protected in a plastic sleeve (see photos). A rare treat for pulp fiction fans. The basis for the 1947 film starring Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. The novel was originally published in hardback in 1946 and later issued in paperback by Dell. It tells the story of Vincent Parry, who is wrongly convicted of killing his wife. Perry is sentenced to prison, but escapes, and with the help of a woman and a new identity, begins the hunt for the real killer. A hard-to-find book, copies in far worse condition are listed at much higher prices.
