Description: Icon of St. Nectarios (or Nektarios) of Aegina (1846-1920), Metropolitan of Pentapolis and Wonderworker of Aegina. St. Nectarios was officially recognized as a Saint by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople in 1961. His feast day is celebrated on November 9th. The icon appears to be printed on paper and attached to the wood (plywood) plaque. Icon measures approximately 4 7/8” x 6 3/16”. The age of the icon is unknown. The maker is unknown, but it’s possible that the icon was made in Greece. The icon appears to be handmade. Estate sale find. A beautiful and inspirational piece of Christian and Greek Orthodox art! The icon appears to be in good to very good used condition with signs of wear, such as scratches, scrapes, abrasions, nicks, chips, stray marks, rub marks, spots, perhaps some minor foxing, minor discoloration, slight upward "bending" or warping of the lower right corner, and wear along the edges and corners. There appear to be two pencil “guide” lines on the back of the wood plaque. Please see photos, as they constitute part of the description. Item is offered “as is.” Please contact me if you have any questions or if you would like additional photos. Thank you for your interest in this item.
