Description: You are bidding on a souvenir program that was given to persons who toured the passenger liner S.S. United States in the Fall of 1984 at the Norfolk International Terminal before the auction of her contents took place. At this time, the ship was an undisturbed time capsule having been sealed up since 1970 (hopefully someone had the foresight to videotape the ship before a large amount of the furnishings were removed for the auction). The tour of the ship was arranged and offered (for a nominal fee) by C.I. Travel Centers. Tour was self-guided with fourteen stations of interest along the way: Times Square (B Deck), First Class Dining Room (A Deck) Main Galley (A Deck), Cabin Class Dining Room (A Deck), Upper Deck Suites (including the Duck Suite), First Class Reading Lounge and Tourist Class Lounge (Promenade Deck) , Radio Room (Sun Deck) Commodore Cabin (Sun Deck), Bridge, Enclosed Promenade, Grand Ballroom (Promenade Deck) Blue Room (Promenade Deck), First Class Smoking Room (Promenade Deck), and First and Cabin Class Theatre. The program includes several nice pictures plus an excerpted article by Richard D. O'Leary from Port Folio Magazine with his recollections of serving on the ship's bridge for five years. Program is in good condition but has been laminated. The program shows signs of having been folded three times horizontally and once vertically. Measures 18-3/8 inches in length and 9 inches in height. Souvenir program will be mailed rolled up in a tube. Buyer pays $7.50 for carefully packed USPS shipping. Purchases are normally shipped next business day. U.S. buyers only. Serious bidders only. Shipping only in U.S. Payment expected within 5 days. Thanks for bidding!
