Description: SRM TECH 10mm UNIVERSAL ACRYLIC PLATTER WITH PLATTER DAMPING RING This is our excellent 10mm thick Clear Acrylic Platter, similar to our Rega fit model but with a standard record spindle sized centre hole, making it eminently suitable for turntables which use a glass platter with this size centre hole. It comes complete with our acclaimed Platter Damping Ring. This is also suitable for older decks like the Transcriptors which do not, in standard form, support the record over the whole playing surface. If you want to use one for this purpose, though, remember that the spindle must be tall enough to reach through an extra 10mm of platter. We do have extension spindles available, which simply sit on top of the existing spindle and rely on the hole in the acrylic platter to keep them in place. To use of one these your existing spindle must be less than 8mm above the record label. These are available for just £9.00 when buying this platter. The spindle extension is shown in the second picture. The advantages of using an acrylic platter as opposed to a glass one have been well documented by the Hi-Fi press - smoother (less splashy) treble, incredibly transparent midrange and more articulate bass. It just sounds more neutral. The addition of the Platter Damping Ring improves the sound quality even further – making this by far the best value replacement acrylic platter available! The SRM/TECH 10mm acrylic platter also has a record label recess so, should you wish, you can use it without a mat. The platter will work fine with most platter mats but sounds great when used with our Silicone Platter Mat – see our ebay store.
