Description: Gerald Harvey Jones, better known to art enthusiasts nationwide as G. Harvey, paints not only with his eye and hand, but with his heart as well. His paintings extend to the viewer an invitation to share his impressions and to enhance them with feelings and impressions of your own and to participate in the creative process. Harvey’s technique and use of soft edges and lines does not confine us to a certain feeling or a certain location. He entered his first major exhibition in 1965 and was recipient of the New Masters Award from the American Artists Professional League Grand National Exhibition. He was honored with a life membership in the Grand Central Galleries and has exhibited in the National Academy in New York. Many national publications have chosen his works for their covers. He is preeminent in his ability to merge fine art and authenticity with impeccable detail. Harvey’s talents exceed the boundaries of Western Art. He is a self-proclaimed impressionist who strives for much more than just literal representation and is able to offer us a reality with emotion and mood that we can easily identify. He is gifted in both painting and sculpture. Harvey is more concerned with the considerations of fine art rather than the subject matter and prefers to be known as an artist who paints western subject matter rather than a “Western Artist”. He not only paints those things which are familiar to him, but his sensitivity and perception enables him to relate to new environments as well. This ability is evident in his paintings of Paris street scenes and Bluebonnet Landscapes of the Texas Hill country where he lives. To know the man is to know his art; for through his unique handling of commonplace subjects, his interpretations, his subjectivity, his emphasis on quality, he is able to communicate his own feelings and emotions to those who see his work.
