Description: Soviet Badge of a Member of VLKSM Communist Youth Organization (also known as Komsomol), 1945 type. This is GUARANTEED 100% ORIGINAL, official issue Soviet badge from 1940s-50s, not a later issue! In the late 1950s, a few years after Stalin’s death, this badge was replaced with the model that featured Lenin’s profile. The early badges are pretty scarce compared with the more recent version, and better made too. The badge is in brass with gilt finish and fine quality “hot-baked” enamel. A very attractive piece! Measures 20.4 mm tall and 22.1 mm wide (in its widest section, including the flagpole finial). This variation of the badge has a slight counter-relief reverse without counter-relief and a raised logo “LMD” of the Leningrad Mint. Because it’s a mint production, it is of even higher quality than other Komsomol membership badges of the period produced by other factories (for example, Pobeda Factory in Moscow). The badge is in GREAT CONDITION! The enamel is perfect, free of any wear that could be found even under 10x magnification (other than one or two microscopic manufacturing flaws) and shows magnificent luster. All the enamel of this piece is 100% ORIGINAL – there are no enamel repairs. The original fire gilt finish on the obverse of the badge is beautifully preserved and bright. On the reverse, there is some verdigris that is not detractive. The pin attachment is fully functional. A great opportunity to acquire a historically significant, genuine Stalin era Soviet badge in outstanding condition! Please note: the penny in our photo is for size reference.
