Description: Soviet cap Pilotka / Russian / USSR Uniform Style w/Star, Army, Green, Original Description: It was officially introduced into the Red Army on January 16, 1919 as a headdress for military cadets. It was a dark green cap with red piping, a red tab, to which was attached a black chin strap and a Red Army star. On December 3, 1935, 2 types of caps were introduced into the Red Army: for commanders - khaki (in the armored forces - steel, in the Air Force - blue) with piping according to the branch of service and a cloth star, on which a Red Army star was attached to the front, and for soldiers (private composition) - khaki color, without piping and cloth star. In the USSR Armed Forces, caps were worn by both men and women. Moreover, officers and warrant officers (midshipmen) usually wore caps with piping in the colors corresponding to the branch of the army. In the navy they wore black wool-blend officer caps with white piping, [5] as well as sailor's black cloth caps; in tropical uniforms, light blue cotton caps with a fabric visor and strap were worn. Officers wore caps with a cockade, and sailors wore caps with an asterisk. The tropical cap was worn with a cockade or an asterisk, depending on the rank.
