The unit powers up and I was able to play a VHS tape on the machine, but I was not able to get the Hi8 deck to operate. It should also be noted that all the labels for the controls and the input labels on the back of the unit are in Japanese. Item sold as pictured and does not include a remote control, instructions, or any other accessories.
