Description: Royal Roost 12-inch 33 RPM LP # SLP-2245 is "Sonny Side Up" by Sonny Stitt. It is mono and undated, but the sleeve notes draw from a Downbeat article published in May, 1959. Read on, though - it isn't in very good condition, which is reflected in the price. The record looks to be in heavily played condition, not as shiny as it used to be, and with visible surface scuffs and scratches, especially on Side One. I played both sides on my Audio-Technica turntable, and Side Two played through with some fairly constant background crackle, and even a couple of forward skips, but no repeats. Side Two has a horrendous scratch across most of the playing surface, and the word I'm going to use to describe it is "unplayable." In addition to the overall background crackle, there are passages of ticking and several forward jumps during the first two tracks, then it starts to stick and repeat somewhere in the third track. Because of variations in tracking ability, filtering technology and needle weights, I can offer no guarantees as to how well it will play on your equipment. The cover is also in distressed condition, with the side seam totally split and the top and bottom seams partially split, plus some scuffs and scrapes and creased corners, and an ink inscription on the back.
