The original sculpture for this medal was commissioned by the "Society of Medalists" (SOM) founded in 1936 by the late George Dupont Pratt. This is from the series of Fine Art medals that were issued as part of the Society of Medalists Series. The artist/engraver is Karl Gruppe.
