M3 was an American armored personnel carrier half-track used widely by Allies during World War II and at beginning of Cold War in Korea War. Solido #244 M3 Half-Track is made of die-cast metal with some plastic parts such as wheels and trends, and comes with two antennas. M3 Half-Track dimensions are 4 3/4" Long x 1 5/8" Wide x 2 1/8" High. This M3 variant has a Howitzer that elevates 75 degrees and transverses a bit right to left. Solido M3 Half-Track with 75 mm Howitzer has an extended front bumper with towing cable. M3 Half-Track is painted army green in color. Solido vehicle was made in France. M3 Half-Track with 75 mm Howitzer is in Like New Condition: Complete All Original: no rust, no missing parts; may show effects of being on display and/or age. This is an Original French Solido factory made die-cast model! Not a Chinese copy as sold by others!This variant is T12/M3 half-track was a U.S. Army tank destroyer equipped with a 75mm howitzer and gun shield, and carried 59 cannon shells. U.S. Army took a M3 half-track and placed French 75 mm Gun M1897A4 gun onto it with a huge gun shield to protect crew. This experimental vehicle was called T12 and was deemed to work well enough to be adopted and standardized in October 1941 as 75 mm GMC M3. From 1941 to 1943, 842 75 mm GMC M3 Half-Track saw combat service. Gun crew on M3 GMC half-track has a huge gun shield to take cover behind as they ready howitzer, but truck driver had only 3/4” cab armor protection. French 75 mm Gun M1897A4 attached was a multi-purpose artillery piece, it could fire an armor piercing shell that could penetrate 81 mm of armor at 500 yards in a direct-fire role and could hit targets up to 9,200 yards in an indirect-fire role. 75 mm howitzer could elevate 75 degrees, but only traverse in a limited arc forward, and was unable to traverse to face back.T12/M3 first served in Philippines Campaign in 1942 with Provisional Field Artillery Brigade in anti-tank and fire-support role. It then served in North Africa in tank destroyer battalions. Also, it served Allied invasion of Sicily, but was superseded by M10 Wolverine tank destroyer in European Theater. In addition, M3 GMC served in Pacific theater with U.S. Marines in Battle of Saipan, Battle of Peleliu, Battle of Okinawa, and many other island battles.
