Description: Sold as is Serious buyers with basic understandings only please for sale solid Naginata in fine black patina, with Tsuba Seppa Saya fittings signed as: 賀州住藤原長次 Gashu ju Fujiwara Nagatsugu 長次Nagatsugu is an early Edo period blade smith who, as the Mei suggested, mainly actived in 賀州Gashu, or the country of 加賀Kaga (加賀国, today's Ishigawa prefecture). Under the protection of the famous 前田Maeda clan who governs the country of Kaga, this area became a center of sword forging with decendants from multiple famous late Muromachi period smith schools gathered, which the smith group here are later known as the 加賀新刀Kaga Shinto school. As shown in the photos, this particular blade is a very typical sample of a slowly formed "healthy" black patina, which it's so fine and smooth, that the original Hamon and Hattori polish is still very clearly observable even on the patina. It has a very Mino style taste 三本杉Sanbon-sugi "triple fir" style Hamon, and overall seems in very decent condition with no significant damages. The blade overall is a veey solidly forged piece with excellent geometries and a larger than average Sori curvature. It's a slightly larger than average Naginata with a hefty weight in hand, and very enjoyable in hand even without polish. It also comes with some decent original fitting sets, including the iron Tsuba, Seppa and a solid Saya sheath Overall, an excellent piece for enjoy as is, or invest in a new polish and Shinsa submission, which I personally definitely recommend the former.
