Description: A rare, unmarked first printing of Truman Capote's LOCAL COLOR. This is the first printing published by Random House in 1950. NOT ex-library. The book consists of Capote's thoughts on some of his travel destinations paired with photographs by well known photographers. New Orleans, New York, Brooklyn, Hollywood, Haiti, etc. Top page edges dyed a reddish brown. No dust jacket. Condition is quite good. Somewhat worn corners. A little discoloration along the board edges. Pages lightly age toned. No foxing. No underlining. No previous owners' names. Sound binding. Intact hinges. Seller's tag from The Old Corner Book Store in Boston on the bottom of one of the endpapers. On the other is a modernist, humorous rendering of male genitalia. It's in pencil and could be erased. I thought it rather funny and have left it. Size is approximately 6 by 9 1/2 inches. There are 92 numbered pages. It's a good item for any collector of Capote's work. Please ask any questions you may have; I'd be happy to answer. Well wrapped and securely boxed. I value the things I sell. No plastic or manila mailers. Shipping is $4.95 via USPS Media Mail. If you have a moment, you might want to take a look at my other interesting to rare items up for sale this week. Thank you.
