The necklace has a stunning vintage turquoise pendant with patina which has come with age and which is meant to bring out the details of the rope design. The color of the turquoise is magnificent. The pendant measures 1 3/4" long, including the bail, by 7/8" wide at the widest point. Sleeping Beauty turquoise is one of the most highly-prized turquoise in the world today. Intense, Robin's egg blue with little to no matrix. This vivid turquoise, often referred to as Persian color, has long been sought after by fine jewelers both in Europe and in America. Once available from the incredible Sleeping Beauty Mine in Arizona, it is the turquoise standard for the world; however, the Mine is now empty and closed, and so Sleeping Beauty Turquoise has become difficult to obtain and very expensive.
