Description: Six watercolor scenes from World War 2 by artist McCorquodaleEach paper is about 14.75 x 10.75 inches Imagine yourself in the throes of battle during WWII attempting to relieve the tension and intensity and clear your head by documenting the day's events with paint on paper. We can imagine what these are the art of an enlisted man during WWII. The paper and dates appear to solidify the year these were executed. These pictures have meaning beyond their imagery. There are a total of six watercolors on paper pictures. 1. A Church and cemetery on a hill signed McCorquodale and titled Hawaii 44. Probably executed during a furlough or before going into battle. The symbolism of the church and cemetery is strong.2. A coastal scene signed McCorquodale title "Lyete Mud" 45. Probably a scene from The Battle of Leyte3. Portrait of an Asian man titled Study of Civilian Laborer, Okinawa Shima 45 signed McCorquodale4. What appears to be a picture documenting the invasion of le Shima in Okinawa. Title Sunrise Serenade Okinawa Shima 45, signed McCorquodale5. Battle for Suribach Iwo Jima 45 signed McCorquodale6. Okinawa Rice Paddy signed McCorquodale 45 Each piece is signed by McCorquodale. It's unclear who McCorquodale is, there were a number enlisted during WWII. Regardless, they appear to have been executed during WWII, perhaps even on a ship during downtime. The paper has signs of foxing due to their age. Edges are minor wear. I am unsure of their age, but they appear to be of the period. Please see the images and ask questions as needed.
