Description: A large book containing a set of six antique steel engraved prints and literature of Georgian Scottish paintings.The book is titled "Illustrations Of The Antiquary". It was produced by the "Promotion Of The Fine Arts In Scotland" and is dated 1867.The engravings are on thick paper and have printed signatures from six different engravers which are all documented in the book.The literature is on the following page of each print and is photographed in order.The book is 17 1/4" x 12" and all the engravings are 9 5/8" x 7 1/2" measured at the edge of the ink. Condition : The book is 157 years old and has age related wear and tear. There is some water damage mainly on the upper right corner of the paper. It has encroached onto the 5th picture of the two Georgian gentlemen with the old man in the background. Any other water marks could be cut away or covered over with clean paper if they were to be mounted in frames.
