Description: These eggs are from a large flock which has both chestnut and fawn birds. They lay a blue blue egg. They are excellent layers and do very well on grass. The roosters are excellent guards. If they see a hawk or any other predator, they herd the hens back into the hen house. The eggs start out average size, but as the hens age, the eggs get bigger. They are healthy birds and seem to live and lay a long time. I still have the original birds I bought from GreenFire Farm. All around a great chicken. SHIPPING. We pack and send fresh fertile eggs, candle every egg before packaging (no hairline cracks, no visible abnormalities, air cell intact and at the top) . We spend a lot of time and effort packing eggs so they will make it to your destination in good shape: individual bubble wrapping, insulation, double boxing. We preselected USPS Priority mail with expected delivery of 1-4 business days to keep the shipment cost low. For the most part, we have had good luck getting eggs to people in good shape and have had decent hatch rates reported back. HOWEVER, and , PLEASE, READ this and know this: once we drop off a package at the post office, it’s all out of our control. The USPS Priority mail expected delivery dates are NOT guaranteed. If you want guaranteed dates and/or a different mail caRIER/service, you MUST make arrangements with me BEFORE purchasing eggs. If you are not ok with this, do not buy these eggs. I have been ordering eggs through the mail for 40 years. Most of the time they have arrived in good shape and I still order eggs through the mail. But, sometimes a mail service can fail.
