About the artist Carolyn Blish (1925-2000) was an American artist known for her paintings and illustrations. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Blish was a versatile artist who worked in a wide range of mediums, including oil paint, watercolor, and ink. One of Blish's most notable achievements was her work as an illustrator. She illustrated over 30 children's books throughout her career, including "The Little Witch" and "The Little Mermaid." Her illustrations were praised for their whimsical and imaginative qualities, and helped to bring beloved stories to life for generations of young readers. Blish was also an accomplished painter, working primarily in oil paint. Her paintings often depicted landscapes, seascapes, and still lifes, and were characterized by their vibrant colors, loose brushstrokes, and impressionistic style. She also experimented frequently with different textures and materials, and integrated elements of collage and mixed media in her work.
