Description: For sale is a very unique 5.5" tall grey and black "mudhead" storyteller with two children eating watermelon. The piece is in good condition but has some imperfections. Please see pics for reference. It's signed Jemez on the bottom with initials that possibly look like JT or JF. I've done a lot of research but can't confirm who the artist is. It looks very similar to a Judy Toya (https://bid.alexcooper.com/lots/view/1-21EBUJ/judy-toya-mud-head-story-teller) but I don't feel comfortable proclaiming this piece is by Judy. It also looks similar to other pieces signed JWT but I'm not sure what those initials stand for (maybe Judy Waquie Toya?). 25% of sale proceeds will be donated to JACA (Jemez Arts and Crafts Association). I'll provide proof of donation once the sale is complete. If you'd prefer to donate to a different Jemez-based organization, I'm happy to discuss. Thanks for looking and feel free to let me know if you have any questions!
